PortaNet AG commissioned Miromico AG to develop a LoRaWAN®-compatible wireless sensor of the latest generation for digital real-time data detection of windows, doors, and gates. Such innovative ideas and applications in the field of IoT require very specific housings. This order was also something special for us.
Our task was to develop a housing for the IoT sensor technology that has a maximum height of 3 millimeters. This task appealed to us enormously because we love challenges.
We developed and tested various ideas – from casting the electronics, to clicking them into two snap-on half-shells, to sliding them into a closed extruded plastic profile. Since the expected quantities per project can range from small to exceptionally large, our focus was on an economical overall price of the CycleCounter®. The extremely fast and simple assembly of the electronics with a short lead time was the decisive factor for the variant with closed plastic profile housing with two plug-in end caps. The profile was made in process plastic extrusion. In addition to mounting the electronics, our assembly process also includes laser marking the back of the housing, applying a front foil using digital printing, sealing with end caps, as well as a function test and assigning the serial number. After that, we pack the final product directly into the sales packaging, this facilitates PortaNet’s distribution.
